Maharaja Bhupinder singh of Patiala built a magnificent mountain retreat for himself in Chail after he was denied residencd in Shimla by the British. Built in 1891, the Maharaja’s Palace was purchased by the Himachal Tourism Department in 1972.

Today, the luxury and oppulence of this palace can be experienced by visitors of all classes. A wide variety of cottages, suites and rooms with different tariffs are available in this majestic manor type house. The Chail Palace is a very popular destination for honeymoon, conference and family trip.
