Kullu

Kullu is a famous hill town in Himachal Pradesh situated on the banks of River Beas. The hill station Kullu is reffered as “the end of the habitable world”. Kullu is a year round holiday destination in India but the tourist traffic increasesin October/ November at the time of Dussehra. Kullu Valley is called the “Valley of Gods”. The town celebrates the seven day festival of Dussehra with great enthusiasm.

Kullu is just 40kms from the hill station Manali in Himachal Pradesh. Raghunath Temple, Jagannathi Devi Temple, Bijli Mahadev Temple are the main tourist attractions of Kullu along with trekking.

Kulantapitha of ancient times and Kullu of today is also known as 'The Valley of Gods'. Famous for its Dussehra celebration, the place finds special mention in the Hindu epics like Ramayana and Mahabharata.

A tiny hill station on the bank of river Beas, Kullu offers delicious red, royal and golden yummy apples. Clean air, cold winds, meandering lanes, enchanting scenery and tall deodars with a bright sun shine are some of the scenic attributes of this beautiful place.

There lies an ancient temple namely Bajaura Temple on the bank of the Beas River, which is 2 km from the Kullu Mandi road at Hat or Hatta. The temple has a colossal pyramid structure adorned with the images of Durga, Vishnu and Ganesh.

Manikaran is a place of pilgrimage for both Hindus and Sikhs. Manikaran is a famous Gurudwara in Kullu people take a holy dips in the hot waters. It is popular for its hot springs. The hot springs in this region are hot enough to cook rice and vegetable in it. The campus has a temple too.

Raison, a beautiful place covered by grassy meadows is merely 13 kms from Kullu.

Access to Kullu

Kullu is well connected by road, rail and air. Kullu's nearest airport is Bhunter airport. It is at 10 kms from the town and well connected to and from Delhi and Chandigarh by regular flights Maximum part of Himachal Pradesh is well connected by roads.

Kullu can be reached easily by road from Shimla, Delhi, Chandigarh, Mandi, Manali, Manikaran, Naggar, Bajura, and Dharamshala and so on. The nearest Rail head is at Chandigarh 320 kms and Shimla 230 kms approximately from Kullu. Another popular nearby railway station is at Una which is 260 kms from the town. A journey by rail offers a number of scenic beauties.
