
With
a sprawling 95.77% of Hindus, the state of Himachal yet showcases a fine
blend of various races in its inhabitants. The place is also inhabited by
some Muslims who reside in Chamba, Kangra and Simaur Valleys. This state
also has 1% population of Buddhist and residing in Trans Himalayan areas of
Lahaul & Spiti and Kinnaur areas. Sikh population is also spread over
Himachal Pradesh.
Hindi is the state language of Himachal but maximum people communicate in
various colloquial dialects such as in Manali they use Manali, Kulavi in
Kullu, Kehluri in Bilaspur, Hinduri in Malagarh, Mihasvi in Mahasu region
and Pangwati in Pangi region.
In this region people are laborious, straightforward and honest. They love
to celebrate festivals. Their dress patterns follow the local climate. The
people of Lahaul wear long gowns and trousers but their gowns are
sleeveless. Sometimes, they prefer to wear grass or leather boots. The
maximum land of the state is owned by Rajputs, Brahmins, and Mahajans and
93% people are engaged agricultural activities. Now the educated ones are
moving towards newer profession. And they are mostly artisans.
These simple minded people are so innocent that they rarely ever lock up
their houses. Yet, there are almost no instances of theft or trickery. The
people are staunch believes of destiny and consider good karmas
to be the only way to heaven.
